Introduction
Glint Solar is committed to conducting our business with the highest ethical standards and expects the same from our suppliers. This Supplier Code of Conduct outlines our expectations for suppliers regarding legal compliance, respect for human rights, and fair labor practices. We believe that responsible sourcing and ethical procurement are essential for building a sustainable and equitable supply chain.
Compliance with Laws and Regulations
- General Compliance: Suppliers must comply with all applicable laws and regulations in the countries where they operate. This includes laws related to labor and employment, health and safety, environmental protection, anti-corruption, and data privacy. Suppliers are expected to maintain a comprehensive understanding of the legal landscape relevant to their operations and ensure consistent adherence to all applicable statutes and regulations.
- International Standards: In addition to national laws, suppliers should adhere to internationally recognized standards, such as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the International Labour Organization's (ILO) Core Conventions, and the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. These international frameworks provide a comprehensive set of guidelines for responsible business conduct and serve as a benchmark for ethical behavior within the global supply chain.
- Environmental Compliance: Suppliers must comply with all applicable environmental laws and regulations, including those related to waste management, air and water pollution, and the use of hazardous materials. Suppliers should strive to minimize their environmental impact and promote sustainable practices. This includes adopting responsible waste disposal methods, reducing emissions, and conserving resources throughout their operations.
- Anti-Corruption Compliance: Suppliers must comply with all applicable anti-corruption laws and regulations. Suppliers must not engage in any form of bribery, corruption, extortion, or other illegal or unethical activity. This includes refraining from offering or accepting bribes, engaging in fraudulent practices, or participating in any activity that could undermine fair competition or ethical business conduct.
- Data Privacy: Suppliers must comply with all applicable data privacy laws and regulations. Suppliers must protect the personal data of their employees, customers, and other stakeholders. Suppliers must collect, use, and disclose personal data only for legitimate business purposes and with the consent of the individuals involved. This includes implementing appropriate data security measures, respecting data subject rights, and ensuring data is handled in a responsible and transparent manner.
Respect for Human Rights
- Universal Declaration of Human Rights: Suppliers must respect the principles enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, including the rights to life, liberty, and security of person; freedom from slavery and torture; freedom of thought, conscience, and religion; and freedom from discrimination. These fundamental human rights are considered inviolable and must be upheld throughout the supply chain.
- UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights: Suppliers should adhere to the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, which provide a framework for businesses to respect human rights throughout their operations and supply chains. These principles emphasize the corporate responsibility to respect human rights, provide access to remedy for any human rights abuses, and conduct due diligence to identify and mitigate potential human rights risks.
- Vulnerable Groups: Suppliers must take special care to protect the rights of vulnerable groups, such as children, migrant workers, and indigenous peoples. Suppliers must not engage in any form of exploitation or discrimination against vulnerable groups. This includes ensuring fair wages, safe working conditions, and equal opportunities for all employees, regardless of their background or social status.
Fair Labor Practices
- ILO Core Conventions: Suppliers must uphold the principles of the ILO Core Conventions, including freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining; the elimination of all forms of forced or compulsory labor; the effective abolition of child labor; and the elimination of discrimination in respect of employment and occupation. These conventions represent the cornerstone of fair labor practices and must be adhered to throughout the supply chain.
- Wages and Benefits: Suppliers must provide fair wages and benefits to their employees, in accordance with applicable laws and industry standards. Suppliers must ensure that wages are sufficient to meet the basic needs of employees and their families. This includes providing competitive compensation packages, social security benefits, and access to healthcare and other essential services.
- Working Hours: Suppliers must comply with applicable laws and regulations regarding working hours. Suppliers must not require employees to work excessive hours or deny them adequate rest periods. Employees should have reasonable working hours with sufficient breaks and time off to ensure their physical and mental well-being.
- Health and Safety: Suppliers must provide a safe and healthy working environment for their employees. Suppliers must comply with all applicable health and safety laws and regulations and take steps to prevent workplace accidents and injuries. This includes providing necessary safety equipment, conducting regular safety training, and maintaining a clean and hazard-free work environment.
- Non-Discrimination: Suppliers must not discriminate against employees based on race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, or any other protected characteristic. Suppliers must provide equal opportunities for all employees in hiring, promotion, training, and other employment practices. Discrimination in any form is strictly prohibited, and suppliers must foster an inclusive and equitable workplace where all employees are treated with dignity and respect.
- Harassment and Abuse: Suppliers must not tolerate any form of harassment or abuse in the workplace. Suppliers must have policies and procedures in place to prevent and address harassment and abuse. This includes creating a safe and supportive environment where employees can report any concerns without fear of retaliation and taking prompt and effective action to address any instances of harassment or abuse.
